Art association plans special activities during Covered Bridge Festival

For details, call the association's art gallery at (765) 569-9422.

Parke County Covered Bridge Art Association members have readied their Rockville gallery for the Covered Bridge Festival with three times the normal number of artworks on display.

June Deener has donated a large watercolor to be given away Nov. 7 through a raffle. All proceeds from the raffle will be used to support the gallery.

New this year will be a drawing for a print by the late noted watercolorist Barbara Flock, titled "Broom Shack." There is no charge for this drawing, and the winner's name also will be drawn Nov. 7.

Flock's family donated her prints to the gallery. There are 16 black-and-white prints (plus "Broom Shack"). The supply is limited. Sales of these prints will help finance the $500 scholarship given annually to a Parke County student.

During the festival, several artists will be painting in the gallery. Visitors are welcome to view the art, make comments and ask questions.

The art gallery is on the north side of the square in Rockville. During the Covered Bridge Festival, hours are extended to 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. For more information, contact the gallery at (765) 569-9422.

The works on display during the festival will continue to be shown throughout the remainder of the month. Regular gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
